3 Month Update

(this picture is a little darker, but you can still tell compared to the two month photo how much bigger he is!)

Trip at 3 months:
Height
: not sure???
Weight: about 15 lbs.
Everyone says he looks like: Rachael, but has some funny facial expressions like J
Development: Smiles, laughs and does a lot of baby talk. Neck strength is much better, he has even rolled over! Grabs at my face and hair all of the time now, especially when he is eating. Takes at least one long nap a day - usually two. Still sleeping through the night (about 10 hours), but has started talking a LOT in his sleep (taking after his dad) which keeps me up at night!

Loves: Mostly the same as last month ... forgot to mention how much he loves being on the changing table. Also, he loves doing baby "pull ups" with dad. Loves to sit in his bouncer and grab the hanging toys. Looking in the mirror in his crib. His Aunt Anna flirting with him in the mirror (I have a fun video of this one I'll post soon). Swimming with Grandpa.
Hates: We have noticed that his only fussy times are when he is tired and yet he really resists falling asleep. We practically have to hold him down sometimes to get him to be still enough to doze off. The area around his eyes gets bright red when he is really tired, so it is becoming easier to tell when he needs a nap.
Fun memories: Most of the fun memories I have posted about on the blog, so this might be repetative. We have great memories of going to the river, swimming at the country club and all of the wonderful visitors we have enjoyed over the past month ... Nicole Emery, the Jains, Brad Congdon, Park Carter, Grandma Cupcake (Kay Lynn) and Aunt Anna.

Trip Rolls Over!

During tummy time last week, just one day before Trip turned 3 months old, he rolled over for the first time! I was the only one to see it, but to my surprise when I called J into the room Trip was able to repeat the roll for him, and again a third time for the camera! I am so happy to have gotten this on video. You will also see from the beginning of the video that Trip is talking more and more all of the time. Please ignore my obnoxious voice on the other side of the camera!

Swimming with Grandpa

This past weekend while J was golfing with some of his good friends, Trip and I went into San Antonio and met J's family for a day at the pool. These are a few cute pictures of Trip swimming with Grandpa. We also got this on camera and it was hilarious because Trip fell asleep while his grandpa was holding him in the water. You can kind of see in the second picture above that his eyes are closed. I guess it's good that he is so comfortable in the water! I didn't get a good picture of his entire outfit, but he was wearing LaCoste swimming trunks and red collared shirt that belonged to J when he was a baby. (I doubt that anyone reading this is surprised that J was so stylish as a baby ... especially if you've met his super-stylish mom!)

2-Month Update

So, I'm a month late on this, but wanted to get it down in writing before I forget.
Trip at 2 months:
Height: 22 inches (50th percentile)
Weight: 12 lbs. 12 oz (75th percentile and almost double his birth weight)
Everyone says he looks like: A mixture of Rachael and J, but not distinctly like either.
Development: Smiles, but no real laugh yet. Reaches for things, but doesn't grab yet. Could use a little work on his neck strength. Sleeps through the night at least 8 hours (Yes!).
Loves: mornings, watching tv with dad, naps with mom, showers with dad, car rides, nakey time
Hates: tummy time, being sleepy, gets annoyed with too many kisses from his parents
Fun memories: J and I both love when Trip coughs or sneezes because every time when he is done he lets out a big sigh like he has just run a marathon. I will try and catch this on video and share. Also, when we shower him with a little too many kisses, he makes this face like he is totally disgusted and annoyed. It's so cute that it makes us want to kiss him even more!

Sunday at the Park

Sunday we took a family trip to the Guadaloupe River State Park, which is just a few minutes from our house. We had such a great time that we ended up buying a "park pass" to take advantage of the park for the next year. The pass will be a great investment, because as you can see from the pictures, both Trip and I are sorely in need of some sun! We sat on a rock in the middle of the river with the current flowing past us, and Trip absolutely loved it! I dipped him in a few times and the shocked look on his face was priceless.

Bumbo Time!

If you have or have had a baby who HATES tummy time, then you can relate to how frustrating it can be! After being inspired by my friend Sara's blog about tummy time with her baby boy who is just a week younger than Trip, I decided to follow her lead and try the Bumbo chair to increase his neck strength. Below are some pictures of our first attempt at "Bumbo Time."
