What I'm REALLY Thankful for

Here are a few of the pictures a friend of mine took during Wills' newborn photo shoot a few days after we got home from the hospital. The family picture that is chosen for the "holiday card" each year is always the one where everyone looks happy and is looking at the camera. We were lucky to get at least one picture like that. With three kids 3 and under, I am realizing just how difficult it is to get a good shot!

I thought it might be more appropriate to document on the blog some of the more realistic pictures from the day to show what I am REALLY thankful for this year. Not the perfect family with perfect clothes and perfect smiles ... but the fact that even though we are full of imperfection, our perfect Savior gave His life for us. I am so thankful that God has shown us grace despite the crying and bad behavior and bad attitudes that consume us all!

I am thankful for real life. For the reality of sin. Because it is such a good (and ever-present) reminder that I am desperately in need of a Savior.

This was a hard week for Anna Kate, and definitely a big transition for her. She really didn't understand why her parents had been gone for several days and why she was no longer the baby in the family. Truth be told, she took it out on Trip the most. When he transferred his "big brother" attention to baby Wills, she became violent! In this picture she is crying after we told her not to hit Trip in the head. Wills is also crying, probably just totally overwhelmed by the new family he was born into!

I had wanted to get some pictures of Wills asleep, but all of the background noise kept him WIDE awake during the photo shoot.

This picture - of Trip holding his baby brother - was not a hard one to get. He has loved him dearly since the moment they met.

Even though having three kiddos pretty close in age can be a challenge, it is times like these that make me excited for the bond these three will have.
