Fun with Friends!

This past weekend we were able to see lots of good friends and their kiddos ... starting with the Peytons and their new baby girl, Ainsley. They just moved to Austin from California, so this was the first time we met little Ainsley. She was absolutely precious and the entire time I was holding her, I just kept saying, "I can't believe that Trip was EVER this small!"
It was also wonderful to spend some time with Johanna. Just to give you the background, we have been friends since junior high and our paths have continued to mirror one another ... both went to TCU, married two friends around the same time, had babies around the same time, and now both live near each other again! The Lord has truly blessed our friendship!

Then, on Sunday Trip and I met my old boss (and friend) and her family for breakfast. They were in Boerne for a wedding and took some time to hang out with us before heading home. Her boys (below) have grown soooo much! Her youngest was just about Trip's size the last time I saw him. It was also a fun visit and wonderful to catch up with old friends.

Yummy!

This week we started on solids! Obviously, Trip was not as excited about this new adventure as I was. In fact, not only does he spit every ounce of the rice cerial out, he also screams, turns his head away violently, spits up and cries big puppy dog tears. Needless to say, this is not exactly how I envisioned the week going.
I am open to any tips or tricks!

Lonely Boys

This week I am in Memphis for work and away from my baby boy for the first time. I am blessed to have a mother in-law who lives close enough to help take care of Trip while I am away as well as a husband who is supportive! Below are the pictures that J has been sending me while I have been away. I have also included the captions that he has sent along with each picture.

"Sleeping Peanuts"
Trip's grandma "Cupcake" calls him her "Little Peanut" and he received this elephant as a shower gift ... it is also embroidered "Little Peanut".
"Save me some ribs Mom!"
J sent this picture while I was enjoying some world famous Rendezvous Ribs here in Memphis. These ribs are some of J's favorites and he was definitely jealous that I was eating them ... apparently so was Trip!
"Missing You."

"Naked Man Dance"

The "naked man dance" is a fun thing that we do with Trip when he is getting his diaper changed. He thinks it's hilarious and loves to be naked!

"Lonely Boys"

"Hi Mom!"

"Good Morning!"

5 month update

The best way to describe Trip as a 5 month old is "Wiggle Worm"! It took me almost 20 pictures to get one of him being still.

Weight: at least 17 lbs.
Height: not sure, no doctors visit this month
Looks like: People are saying he has my eyes, J's lips, a combo nose, and ears from his great grandpa "Char" ... He is definitely a blend!
Development: He has really grown to love having a schedule. When he is not on his schedule, we have had some major breakdowns! He takes two long naps (2 hours) a day, eats 5 times a day and sleeps from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. which all seems pretty textbook. He is learning how to put weight on his legs with the help of his Jumperoo. And now that he has more control over his torso, he doesn't like to lay down on his back and is always trying to sit up.
Loves: Playing "Horsey" with his Cappy, the wind in his face, his pacifier, his "Puppy Jonas", Fred Bird the Red Bird (he is already becoming a Cardinals fan), going on walks (although we don't do this often enough with the Texas heat), being swaddled.

Sidenote: We stopped swaddling Trip when he was around 2 months old because he was breaking out of the swaddle and we would find him in the mornings with his blanket around his face. When he started to wake up 20 minutes into a nap at around 4 months, we decided to try swaddling again and he LOVES it! When he is swaddled with his pacifier, he will fall asleep in a matter of seconds ... it is such a lifesaver! We did this on some of our nightime plane rides, and he slept the entire time laying accross our laps.

Hates: Going off of the schedule! Being held like a baby, wearing clothes, getting the "Alti-Toots" in Colorado :)
Fun Memories: Going to Colorado, meeting new friends in Houston, flirting with the airline stewardesses.

Steamboat 2009

J, Trip and I spent last week with my family in Steamboat, Colorado. This has become an annual event for us and this year was full of activity and fun! We went hiking, down the Alpine Slide, fly fishing, bike riding, camping, swimming at the Strawberry Park Hot Springs and to the Rodeo. There were a few activities that Trip could not take part in, but for the most part he was a trooper and loved the cool Colorado weather. Below are a few pictures from the week.

Fly Fishing. This was my first time and I loved it!

Hiking up to the "Rabbit Ears" on our overnight camping adventure. Trip and my mom stayed back in the cozy cabin.

Sisters pic at the top of "Rabbit Ears".

Timmy, Whitney and Anna on our first hike of the week.

Family pic on our first hike. All 17 lbs. of Trip went in the Baby Bjorn with J. He actually loved this, which was surprising because we were hiking for 4 hours. I'm not going to lie, this hike was really hard for me and I have to apologize to my family for complaining so much. Of course, my studly husband with baby in tow didn't complain once. What a man!

Rodeo night with Trip in his cute new PJs from his Gigi.
