Brothers

Last Tuesday I was taking pictures of Wills at one week old when Trip decided to join in on the fun. He LOVES his baby brother and is actually a huge help to me with him. He has tried on several occasions to give his monkey to Wills, but I keep telling him that he should keep his monkey. For some reason it is this symbol to me of Trip as a baby, and it makes me sad to think of him without it.

Anyway, here are some pictures of these two sweet brothers...

Wills was born at 3:09 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012. He weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz. and is 21 inches long. The biggest of our three babies. He is definitely his own little person, but looks a lot like his big brother did at the same age.

At one week old, Wills sleeps and eats well and is a really sweet baby. The only thing he hates is getting his diaper changed. He has a set of lungs and lets us know he is not happy during this process.

Trip is totally in love with Wills and would spend all day holding him if he could. In fact, he spent most of day two at the hospital holding Wills and instructing others how to act around his baby brother. We were told to "be quiet" or just to "go away" if Trip thought we were in any way disturbing his baby brother. Wills is also content to let Trip hold him for an extended period of time. It's really neat to see these brothers bond. I think Wills knows Trip's voice as well as he knows mine, and Trip seems to intuitively know how to comfort his little brother.

Anna Kate has had a much  more difficult transition. I'm not sure if she totally realizes that Wills is not a baby doll. She is also not fond of the attention being taken away from her. But that is about what I expected from our only girl. I know she will adjust and be a great big sister in time.

We are still being "taken care of" by my mom and then will have J's mom visit to help, so I'm not sure our real transition as a family of 5 has even begun. Keep us in your prayers as we adjust. I know we will need patience and love that can only come from the Holy Spirit.

We are beyond thankful for this newest blessing in our family. He has already enriched our lives in immeasurable ways.

We love you baby Wills! Welcome to the Kuper family!

Patience

Have Patience, Have Patience, Don't be in such a hurry
When you get impatient, you only start to worry
Remember, Remember, that God is patient too
And think about the times when others have to wait for you

These days I have been asking Trip to sing this children's song to me as I wait on the arrival of this baby boy! I am trying to appreciate only having two little ones to chase after. I am also cherishing all of the sweet hugs and kisses from my current "baby" who I know will grow up overnight when her baby brother arrives.

Other things to be thankful for ... I have slept well every night this week, I feel relatively good, and the weather has cooled. Also, I have a husband who has been so understanding and helpful, trying to be home as much as possible.

Please pray that I will have patience and know that the Lord's timing is perfect.

The (growing) Bump

Things you should not say to a pregnant woman:
  • "You look like you're about to pop!"
  • "Are you sure you aren't having twins?"
  • "That baby is going to be HUGE!"
  • "When are you due? ... Oh, I thought for sure you were going to say today!"
My advice - If you are a man, you should probably just stick to silence. If you're a woman, just say how great the expectant woman looks. Another good one is, "You are all baby" ... whether that is the truth or not :)

Even after 3 pregnancies, I can't get over feeling bad about myself when people comment on my size. Being 5'2 with a 1-inch waist might contribute to the comments about my big belly. Obviously, being "big" when you are pregnant is NOT a bad thing. And I am sure it is no one's intention to make me feel bad about myself. There are just as many people who say wonderful things. None the less, it's a difficult adjustment.

It only makes me anticipate holding this little guy in my arms and getting him out of my belly!

final days of summer

The weather has started to turn around here and it has been absolutely beautiful. Warm enough to play in the water table, but cool enough to sit outside for more than 10 minutes.

After several attempts at keeping Anna Kate from climbing into the water table, I gave up and just let her go for it. Trip was content to stay dry and let Spiderman "cannonball" into the water.
