Last weekend we were so thankful for the opportunity to fly to Missouri to meet my sister's baby girl, Harper Elizabeth-Leigh Thompson. We had anticipated the weekend for a long time (especially me and Trip), and as soon as it came it was gone. I can't wait to hold her again at my other sister's wedding in a couple of weeks.
I knew that Trip would be fantastic with his new cousin after proving to be such a gentle and loving big brother to Wills. We arrived to my parents house first, and he insisted that we wait in the front yard for my sister, her husband, and Harper to arrive. I can't believe what a patient 4-year-old he was.
Trip was first to hold Harper. He clearly did not want to let anyone else hold her!
Anna Kate did surprisingly well with Harper. She showed very little interest in Wills as a newborn, but it's funny how 7 months of age have changed her. She is so grown up now. She was gentle and sweet with Harper. Here they are in their (first of many) matching outfits courtesy of Cupcake.
We wanted to get a picture to show the size difference between these two cousins, and this one doesn't really show accurately how much bigger Wills is because Harper is in front of him. She really is very tiny and it was like holding a feather compared to my big boy! It is so fun to have these two so close in age, and likely the same year in school. I am sure Wills will get Harper into lots of trouble!
We wanted to get a picture of all 4 cousins together to give to my mom for her birthday. We had such grand intentions! Out of about 100 pictures, this was the best we could do. Trip was making faces, Anna Kate was tired and refused to smile, Harper was a little overwhelmed by her big cousins, and then of course there was Wills who was perfect and smiled for the camera the whole time!

We are all so happy to have had a whole weekend with little Harper and cannot wait until the next time we are all together at Thanksgiving. It's crazy to think that Wills will be one year old, and Harper will be 6 months! These tiny ones become big ones so so quickly. And even though I am grateful for the time we have together, my heart longs for it to be more often.
Anna, Matt, and Harper ... We love you!
